Selling at auction

How to auction your car on Karaji — auction types, reserve price, scheduling, what you see while bidding runs, and what happens after the hammer falls.

When an auction fits

An auction is the right choice for rare, classic, or in-demand cars — when you'd rather let the market set the price than guess it yourself. Bids on Karaji are real commitments: there are no deposits, but bidders are verified users who share their contact details the moment they bid, so every bid comes from someone committed to buy. If you simply know the amount you want, Selling at a fixed price may be simpler.

Up or down auction

Type How it works
Up auction Price rises with each bid (+1000 SAR per bid)
Down auction Price falls from the highest until a buyer steps in

Reserve price

You can set an optional reserve — the price below which you won't sell. Bidders don't see the number itself; they only see whether the reserve is reached or not reached. A Valuate estimate is a good guide for picking a realistic starting price and reserve.

Scheduling

  • Default start: tomorrow at 17:00.
  • Duration options: 1 day, 3 days, or 1 week.
Duration Good for
1 day Quick sales with strong demand
3 days A balanced choice for most cars
1 week Maximum reach — but don't go longer: overly long auctions lose buyers' interest

Prerequisites and wizard steps

The requirements are the same as for a fixed-price listing: the car must be in your Garage (Adding a car) with at least 15 photos (server-enforced), mileage, and condition filled in. The wizard then asks for:

  1. Starting price and reserve.
  2. Auction date and duration.
  3. Location — map point plus your KSA city.
  4. Contact details — a +966 phone and optional Telegram; the contact can be another person.
  5. Commission consent — fixed SAR 500, VAT included, paid only after a successful deal; nothing upfront, no listing fee.
  6. Video — required to complete the listing.

While the auction runs

  • The current price updates live, and every lot shows its bid history.
  • In the final 4 hours the lot is marked "Finishing soon".
  • There is no auto-extension — the auction ends exactly on time, last-second bids included. The buyer's view of all this is in Auctions & bidding.

After the hammer

The winner receives a Winner ticket with your contact details and a confirmation code, and gets in touch. Agree on the handover, then ask the winner for their Garage ID — you'll need it to transfer the car. Pay the SAR 500 commission and complete the transfer as described in Closing the deal & transfer.
